Readers say these are the best fries at the Shore
In honor of National French Fry Day on Friday, July 12, we asked readers to share their favorite spots for fries.
"Classic fries, boardwalk fries, loaded fries — tell us where to find them," we said.
Plenty of people shared that they love the fries at Mutiny BBQ in Asbury Park, where potatoes are hand-cut, fried and tossed in a secret "magic" seasoning. We also heard that the freshly cut fries at Bay Village Pizza in Beach Haven are great, too.
The best french fries we've had recently came from Five Sisters Food Co., which tops crispy fries with white truffle oil, parmesan cheese and garlic aioli, and House of Fries in Seaside Heights, which makes the perfect boardwalk fry: skin-on, crispy (thanks to double frying) and salty.
Here are five other spots readers like.
Dave's French Fries, Manalapan
"My pick for best french fries is Dave's French Fries at Englishtown Auction in Manalapan. I'm a fry connoisseur, and Dave's is truly the best! They're fresh-cut, skin-on and hot right out of the fryer. They're made right in front of you. They're amazing, and you can't get fries like that anywhere else. There's always a long line and it's well worth the short wait. — Shari Wexler, Old Bridge
Pascal & Sabine, Asbury Park
"An upscale French restaurant, their fries, while pricey, are awesome and the best I have ever had." — Paul Saulino, Media, Pennsylvania
Sea Crab, Neptune
"(Their french fries) have an outer coating that adds extraordinary favor. They also have an exterior crunch coupled with a creamy interior. You definitely can't eat just one." — Melody A., Neptune
Comfi, Belmar
"They must be double fried. Not too skinny, and really really crispy. They are soooo good." — Paula Best, Belmar
Five Guys, multiple locations
"I still think they have the best fresh-cut fries I have ever tasted, and they give you plenty of ketchup to put on them." — Bill Carlin, Little Silver
