'Recovery is Possible' event returning to Fuqua Park
Sep. 9—A recovery event will come to Fuqua Park in effort to bring an educational night to community members.
The "Recovery is Possible" event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Fuqua Park gazebo in Duncan.
Prevention Coordinator of Wichita Mountains Prevention Network (WMPN) Brian Webb said WMPN, Marie Detty Youth Services and Pathways to a Healthier You will partner together to host the Third Annual "Recovery is Possible" event.
Webb said the free event is a gathering dedicated to empowering individuals and family who are affected by substance abuse.
He said they look to bring a night of hope, support and inspiration to the community, as well as provide a "supportive environment for learning, sharing and connecting."
Webb said the Recovery is Possible event will feature several testimonials to provide hope and inspiration to others.
"This event is about celebrating progress, fostering community and reinforcing the belief that recovery is not only possible, but achievable," Webb said.
With encouragement to attend the night, Webb said the event is designed to help create room for "hope and solidarity."
"Whether you are personally affected by substance abuse, a family member, or a professional in the field, this event will offer valuable resources and a supportive network," Webb said.
During the event, community members will get the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers, peruse resource tables from organizations who offer support services, treatment options and more, engage in discussions, as well as to network and connect with others in the area.
