I take my summer snacking seriously, so I won’t rely on the whims of a mobile treat truck’s schedule alone. Earlier this month, I started stocking up for the season ahead.
On my most recent Costco visit, I beelined to the freezer section to see what new sweet finds they had in store for me. The first thing I noticed was the familiar orange packaging of one of my favorite chocolate and peanut butter candies. It was a box of Reese’s Frozen Peanut Butter Dessert Cups, an ice cream treat made with the same classic flavor combo, and in that moment I knew right away that that box was coming home with me.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the GOAT of chocolate and peanut butter cups, and the geniuses behind these candies haven’t stopped creating more Reese’s-inspired desserts. Reese’s Frozen Peanut Butter Dessert Cups are hand-held ice cream bars. They’re made of peanut butter frozen dairy dessert swirled with Reese’s peanut butter and covered in a thick milk chocolate shell. (Frozen dairy desserts may be whipped with more air for a lighter consistency and have less dairy fat than is required for the ice cream label.) The bars are round with a scalloped edge, reminiscent of the classic candy. They are individually wrapped in shiny silver packaging to keep the bulk box of 24 dessert cups fresh.

My Honest Review of Reese’s Frozen Peanut Butter Dessert Cups
I wasn’t sure what to expect as I opened the sturdy cardboard box. I unwrapped the first silver package to find a round, palm-sized ice cream bar. The smooth milk chocolate coating is thick and cracks as you bite into it before it melts in your mouth. The ice cream (or, rather, “frozen dairy dessert”) is peanut butter-flavored.
Peanut butter ice creams are often thick and too intensely flavored to be refreshing for a hot summer day, but this peanut butter dessert is decidedly not that. Upon first bite, it tasted like rich vanilla ice cream with a hint of peanut butter. With each additional bite, the peanut butter flavor became more pronounced — especially when I reached the Reese’s peanut butter swirl.
Costco has been my go-to for peanut butter and chocolate sweets for a few years now. Who can forget the viral chocolate and peanut butter pie or the Reese’s dipped animal crackers that made the internet go wild? I’m so glad that I spotted these frozen dessert cups, and if I have my say, these Reese’s Frozen Peanut Butter Dessert Cups will be the next viral sweet in that distinguished dessert lineup.
