Adan Canto, who starred in the first two seasons of The Cleaning Lady as Arman Morales, has died. He was 42.

Canto's first role was on Estado de Gracia in 2009, before getting his first American television part in 2013 as Paul Torres in The Following.

Canto portrayed Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past the next year, followed by key roles in projects like Mixology, Blood & Oil, and more. Alongside The Cleaning Lady, his other most prominent role was in Designated Survivor. He played the character Aaron Shore, who becomes Vice President-elect of the United States in the political drama, appearing in all three seasons of the series.

Aug. 28, 1943 — Jan. 4, 2024

David Soul, British-American singer and actor most notably remembered for his role in Starsky and Hutch, has died. He was 80 years old.

The late actor portrayed the character of Detective Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson in the original action TV series—which ran for four seasons from 1975 to 1979 on ABC—alongside Paul Michael Glaser's Detective Dave Starsky. He also had roles in 1979 TV miniseries, Salem's Lot, and 1980 TV movie, Homeward Bound, after a host of other small roles during the mid-1960s.

Off-screen, he saw success with a music career as a singer-songwriter, charting a No. 1 hit with the 1976 release of "Don't Give Up On Us."

Glynis Johns, the British actress who starred as Mrs. Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins, has died. She was 100.

Johns was known for her role as Mrs. Banks, mother to children Michael and Jane Banks in the 1964 Julie Andrews-led Disney film. She was also a Tony award winner for her performance as Desiree Armfeldt in the 1973 production of A Little Night Music.

On the small screen, Johns briefly starred in her own sitcom Glynis, though it only aired 13 episodes. She also appeared as a "guest villain" on Batman, portraying Lady Penelope Peasoup.

Her most recent credits include 1999's Superstar and 1995's While You Were Sleeping.

Christian Oliver, known for his work in Speed Racer, The Good German and Valkyrie, and his two young daughters are assumed dead after their plane crashed into Caribbean waters on Thursday, Jan. 4. He was just 51 years old.

Most recently, the German actor had starred in projects like Sense8, Hunters and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

Lynn Yamada "Lynja" Davis

July 31, 1956 — Jan. 1, 2024

Lynn Yamada Davis, an internet personality and TikTok star who made millions of people smile with her lively and over-the-top cooking videos, has sadly died. She was 67.

The content creator behind "Cooking with Lynja," who first started sharing the comical cooking content during the pandemic lockdown, ended up becoming an internet sensation, with over 30 million followers across her social media platforms. Her youngest child, son Tim Davis, edited all of the videos for TikTok, and even uploaded some of the content they filmed before his mom's death.

On Friday, Jan. 12, Tim shared the sad news of his mom's passing with her followers on TikTok, sharing that her final moments were "super peaceful."

Mickey Cottrell, the actor best known for his appearances in Star Trek and My Own Private Idaho, has died. He was 79.

As for his own credits, outside of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1992), Star Trek: Voyager (1997) and My Own Private Idaho (1991), Cottrell also held roles in Ed Wood (1994), Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996), The Practice (1997), Volcano (1997) and Shortbus (2006), among many others. He also produced a slew of original entertainment, including Big River Man (2009) and Perfect Cowboy (2014).
