How Riley Keough Almost Accidentally Killed Andrew Garfield

Riley Keough is opening up about the "stressful" experience where she almost gave former co-star Andrew Garfield the kiss of death—literally.

A seemingly innocent snack break almost turned disastrous on set of the 2018 film Under the Silver Lake, in which Keough starred opposite Garfield, who apparently is severely allergic to nuts.

While filming for the mystery-thriller, Keough was fueling up with a granola bar right before a kissing scene with Garfield, having no idea about his serious allergy.

"I was in the makeup trailer and I was eating, like, a granola bar or something, and I was about to shoot a scene where I have to kiss Andrew," she explained in a new Vanity Fair video. "The makeup lady was like, 'Are there peanuts in that?' And I was like, ‘I think. I don’t know.'"

"And then she like, ran away," Keough recalled, explaining that the makeup artist later returned with the film's producer, who informed her of Garfield's major allergy.

"The producer came in and was like, 'Riley, Andrew's very allergic to peanuts and we have to shut the set down, They shouldn't have been at craft [services, the on-set catering], and I don't know why they're on set.'" the Daisy Jones & the Six actress, 34, recounted.

"I was kind of like, ‘Oh, f--k, that’s crazy," she added. "But also, like, thank God that this woman caught it, ‘cause I had no idea."

Apparently, the Amazing Spider-Man actor has such an intense allergy, that he even knows how to alert others of his nut sensitivity in both English and Spanish, which a friend from Chile told him. The 39-year-old can say in Spanish that he is allergic to "all kinds of nuts," and that exposure can even lead to his "muerte," or death.

Keough admittedly said the close call on set was "actually very stressful," considering what could have gone wrong. But otherwise, she said it was "a very cool movie" to film—apart from the Garfield's near death, of course.
