Rose Marie Ziemann, 83, of Litchfield, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at her residence in Litchfield. A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel with Pastor Orval Wirkkala officiating. The interment was at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Kingston.
A time to gather with the family was Saturday afternoon one hour prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
Rose Marie (Hawley) Ziemann, daughter of Zean and Helen Hawley, was born March 12, 1931, in Wabasha. Rose grew up in Wabasha where she was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Rose attended school in Wabasha until her family moved to St. Paul when she was a teenager. She attended and graduated from the Cathedral of St. Paul Catholic School.
In January of 1952, Rose was united in marriage to Robert Ziemann at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Together they made their home in St. Paul, where Rose was employed at Bro-Tex and later as a dietician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul. Upon retirement, Rose moved to Litchfield to be closer to family.
Rose had a marvelous hand at crocheting and had given away hundreds of afghan’s and dolls to family and friends. She enjoyed baking and loved to make homemade tortillas for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, having a good time and loved to joke around, but she would also tell you the truth about things.
Rose is survived by her children, Marie (Michael) Kichler of Stacy, Rebecca (Ron) Hastings of Dassel, and Robert (Helen) Ziemann of E. Bethel; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Eugene Hawley of Sylmar, Calif.; and Helen Weinger of Forest Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Herman Ziemann; grandson, Joey Ziemann; great-grandson, Mathew Holmin; parents, Zean and Helen Hawley; brothers, Frank Hawley and William Hawley.
