Rough Edge EDC: Multitool perfect for those nights grilling outdoors
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Let’s explore Part 2 of my favorite multitools.
Last week, we went into detail on the Leatherman Micra, the iconic brand’s scissors-based keychain tool.
I dubbed the Micra the OG before there was a thing called EDC.
But I am also a big fan of the Gerber Armbar Cork. We can call that OG2.

It looks like half of a Leatherman and features a locking blade, a pair of scissors, can opener/package opener combo and a three-in-one tool at one end – bottle opener, pry bar and makeshift hammer.
And like its name suggests, its main tool is a corkscrew with a lever arm.
Quite simply, I love this tool for entertaining, especially when it comes to outdoor grilling.
I’m not a big wine guy, so I don’t use the corkscrew as much as I envisioned. (It can be used for untying knots!)

But the knife, scissors and bottle opener are essential when it comes time for grilling burgers out in the backyard and popping open a cold beer. I’ve also used the small pry bar to “unstick” two frozen burger patties.
Just love this tool.
The Armbar Cork is 6 ? inches long and weighs just a little over 3 ounces.
It currently lists for $45 on the Gerber Gear website and comes in three colorways – onyx, orange and gold.
I got mine off eBay for about $30 nearly two years ago. Gerber also has frequent sales and I have seen these for 50 percent off at times on the company’s website.
The Armbar series of tools comes in several other varieties.
The Armbar Drive is similar to the Cork, except its main tool is a bit driver.

There are also the Armbar Trade and Scout. The Armbar Trade has a locking knife, bit driver, combo pry bar/bottle opener/hammer, awl (hole punch) and saw.
The Scout is virtually the same except it has a pair of scissors and can opener/package opener combo tool.
There is also the Armbar Slim series that either feature a pair of scissors or a bit driver, plus a blade.
I know lots of EDC enthusiasts who are not fans of Gerber. I, for one, love their products. If you shop around or wait for a sale, you can get great value for the buck.
