Running has made me realize that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. I never realized how goal-oriented I am, until I decided to run the 2019 NYC TCS Marathon. I trained hard, overcame injuries and mental blocks, and finished!

As a mother of two small children, I try to model a healthy and positive lifestyle. Although I have felt guilty taking time away from them at times, I also know that showing them my commitment and discipline will teach them to work hard for what they want in life.

As a middle school teacher, I love fostering a love of exercise and fitness in my students. They have followed my journey from being a couch potato to a marathoner, and some have even joined me at different finish lines along the way.

In short, running has helped me to achieve a healthy balance in all areas of my life, from my physical fitness to my mental peace of mind. I feel so fortunate to be able to lace up my shoes and hit the road or trail.

I joined RW+ to share stories, ideas, and tips with others who share my love of running.

I run for self-care, to clear my mind, to feel amazing and to crush personal goals. Nothing feels better than completing a run on a day that you had to push yourself out the door. I run when I am stressed, I run when I am happy, and I run because I can.

My favorite run was on a trail in Rochester, NY. Tucked away in a suburban neighborhood, there were beautiful trails, challenging hills and even a gorgeous waterfall. It was amazing to have access to that experience in the middle of a busy day.

My favorite piece of running gear are my Apple AirPods. I love listening to podcasts on a long run. It allows me to escape my mind and fall into my pace without thinking about it too much.

I’m a huge book nerd. If I could read while I run, I would!

My most recent goal is to improve my pace. I would love to be able to run an 8-minute mile!
