Besides being physically healthier, I now feel mentally stronger. I never dreamed I could run a half marathon and now I run 12-15 miles on my long training runs.
Being brand new to running, I joined RW+ to get access to as much information as I could on how to train, how to eat, how to prepare for whichever event I was training for. It has been so helpful having all that information to read through and use on my journey.
I run to prove to myself that just because I was diagnosed with heart disease that life didn’t have to stop. Even though I am turning 50 (yikes) I can still make myself nearly as good as I was at 18.
I run at various times, due to work and family obligations. Sometimes I am able to run early in the morning, or I will go out after work. When it gets dark early I run on a paved bike trail with my headlamps. Some days I will just run on the treadmill at the gym in the morning and then go back later that evening for a workout. I used to run on a wooded trail, but after a fall I decided to stick with the road or paved bike trail; less things to trip over.
I love my compression gear. From my socks to shorts and shirts. I wear them so much now I don’t think I could run without them.
My goal is coming up in January. I will be attempting the Dopey Challenge at Disney for my 50th birthday. If I can complete that my next goal will be to try to qualify (or get in through the lottery) for the Chicago marathon.
