For nearly ten years, Apple has dominated the tablet market with the iPad Mini, iPad, and iPad Pro. Ever since Steve Jobs introduced the world to the very first iPad in 2010, these mobile models are considered high-quality devices for everyday and professional use.

However, there’s a crop of people who aren’t Apple and iOS users but demand a comparable high-performance tablet that runs on Android. Over the years, there really hasn’t been a competitor to Apple in the tablet market — until now. With the release of the all-new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1-inch tablet.

This is the first real alternative to the Apple iPad and the first mobile device that might convince iPad users to switch to Android. And, it’s now on sale for $197, or $33 off its list price at Walmart.

Normally retailing for $230, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is competitively priced with the standard 9.7-inch Apple iPad model. But the Tab A has a few more features and panache to entice old and new customers alike.

The slim tablet weighs just 1.3 pounds and boasts 32GB of storage out-of-the-box (expandable up to an additional 512GB via microSD card), compared to Apple’s 32GB (without expandability) for the same price. On top of that, the Tab A’s 10.1-inch display is a full HD widescreen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution.

The Galaxy Tab A also includes an 8-megapixel rear shooter with a 5-megapixel selfie cam on the front for video calls. This camera set is actually better than the one that comes with an Apple iPad.

All these features allow the Android tablet to give you a better and more immersive viewing experience, as it mimics the familiarity of watching movies and TV shows on a big screen — but it’s all in the palm of your hands.

In fact, Samsung’s high-quality displays are so premium, Apple partnered with the South Korean company to manufacturer all the displays for the iPad and iPhone. So even if you’re an iPad user, you’re still using a Samsung touchscreen.

As far as audio, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A includes Dolby Atoms surround sound with dual-channel audio in a full-stereo build for clarity. With up to 14 hours of battery life and 3GB of memory, this Android tablet is more than suitable and zippy for browsing the internet, listening to music, playing mobile games, watching YouTube videos, and light professional work — including word processing, spreadsheets, and creating and giving presentations.

Simply put, this Samsung tablet is capable of doing more than a standard Apple iPad. And, if you’re a Samsung Galaxy S10 (or lower) user, this tablet syncs perfectly with your smartphone, so that you can have a seamless experience between mobile devices.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use tablet or one for a first-time user, this Samsung Galaxy Tab A is an excellent option to consider — especially now that it’s a fraction of the cost of an Apple iPad.
