Sandra Bullock's Sister Gives Insight Into Actress' Final Days With Late Boyfriend
Following the death of Sandra Bullock's longtime partner Bryan Randall, the actress' sister Gesine Bullock-Prado paid tribute on social media, praising the Lost City star for the way she cared for Randall up until the very end.
"I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon," Prado began in the caption of her Instagram post first shared Monday, Aug. 7.
The pastry chef continued, shedding light on how her sister remained strong and stepped up to support Randall while he battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable and progressive neuromuscular disorder often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
"ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home," she shared. "Rest in peace, Bryan."
"In lieu of flowers, please donate to ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital," Prado's statement concluded.
As Parade previously reported, Randall's family confirmed on Monday that the photographer passed away over the weekend, sharing the following statement with reporters: "It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS."
"Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request," the family shared. "We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours."
"At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan," signed "His Loving Family."
He was 57.
Bullock, 59, and Randall first met in 2015 when the actress hired him to photograph her son Louis' birthday. Shortly after, they became inseparable while successfully keeping most of their relationship out of the public eye.
Though the couple never officially wed, the two raised their three children–including Bullock's 13-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter Laila, as well as Randall's adult daughter Skylar–together.
During her 2021 Red Table Talk appearance, Bullock gushed over Randall and the family they created–something she rarely does publicly. "I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children— three children, [Randall's] older daughter. It's the best thing ever," she shared.
Addressing why the couple never married, she added, "I don't wanna say do it like I do it, but I don't need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother. I don't need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don't need to be told to weather a storm with a good man."
