Savannah Chrisley Explains How Parents Are Staying in Touch in Prison
Todd and Julie Chrisley may be in separate prisons, but according to their daughter Savannah, not even the distance can keep the couple apart.
The 26-year-old reality TV star spoke a bit more about her parents' relationship in a new video interview with the Daily Mail after her brother Chase said their "terrible situation" was made worse by the fact that the couple is "obsessed with each other."
"They’re emailing a little bit," she said, explaining that Todd, 54, and Julie, 50, are having issues getting their physical mail while behind bars. "What’s unfortunate is you have people in these prisons who are holding their mail," Savannah claimed.
This isn't the first we've heard that the reality TV stars are having a tough time serving their sentences. Earlier this summer, Savannah and Chase, 27, said their parents faced "inhumane conditions" while incarcerated. Chase went on to describe the sentencing as "worse" than death.
Todd and Julie's lawyer, Jay Surgent, even spoke out about the treatment they're allegedly receiving, blaming the duo's "celebrity status" as the cause for the "nightmare" they're living.
"I would like to say that they're doing well, but they're not," Surgent told reporters at the end of July. "First of all, anybody incarcerated is not doing well because they're restricted of their freedom. But the problem in this situation is that, because of their celebrity status, I think that they've been singled out."
"I don't want to absolutely say that they've been discriminated against as a result of their celebrity status, [but there are] certain things that they've had to endure while being incarcerated, [that] they've been subject to, that need to be corrected," Surgent added.
While the couples' claims have gone unanswered, the two Chrisley Knows Best alums were recently granted an earlier-than-anticipated release, shaving two years off both of their sentences, for their "model behavior" since being locked up this past January.
Todd, who was initially sentenced for tax evasion in Nov. 2022 to 12 years at Florida's FPC Pensacola, is now scheduled to be released on January 22, 2033. Meanwhile, Julie, who is currently being held at Kentucky's FMC Lexington and was originally supposed to be behind bars for seven years but will be out on October 19, 2028.
