Savannah Guthrie Shares Makeup-Free Selfie

Savannah Guthrie took to Instagram to announce that she’s returning to the Today show in a way that will resonate with busy moms everywhere: with a makeup free selfie.

She shared a photo of herself with two-month-old son Charles Max Feldman and captioned the photo, “Hey, little one, you’re not the *only* good reason to wake up early!! ????I’m headed back to @TODAYshow March 3! Excited to see you all!”

Fans are just as thrilled about Guthrie’s return as they were when she announced Charles’s birth, not so coincidentally in a similar makeup free moment. “So lovely — motherhood radiates from the inside out!” wrote lauraflowers85 on Instagram. Another commenter agreed, “We have missed you … but glad you work at a place that lets you take the time to be with your baby.”

In an environment when television hosts are shamed for wearing too much makeup or for going without it, it’s refreshing to see a well-respected figure like Guthrie share a natural photo.

Guthrie’s co-hosts seem just as happy to welcome their colleague back to Today. “We’ve had a run of remarkable news,” said Matt Lauer before leading into the announcement that Guthrie would return. “Help is on the way!” joked Kathy Lee Gifford.

“The thought of getting to add to our family now is beyond every hope, dream and prayer I have ever had,” Guthrie wrote of adding Charley to the family. “It is not simply double the joy — it is joy multiplied infinitely.”
