See the First Trailer and Images From the Mean Girls Remake
It's Mean Girls season.
Not only was there a Mean Girls reunion in the Walmart Black Friday commercial, but there is now a trailer for the Mean Girls remake.
From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, Mean Girls. New student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called "The Plastics," ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself prey in Regina's crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group's apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
Sound familiar? That's because it's the same, but this time it's a musical - inspired by the show that debuted in Washington D.C. in 2017 before its Broadway run began in 2018. It will also kick off a West End run in 2024.
The trailer will have fans of the classic comedy film doubletaking because it looks identical to the movie we know and love, including featuring Tina Fey herself, who penned the screenplay. Tim Meadows also returns as Principal DuVall, but the rest of the cast is brand new.
Angourie Rice plays Cady Heron, Reneé Rapp is Regina George, Bebe Wood is Gretchen Wieners and Avantika is Karen Shetty. Moana's Auli'i Cravalho joins as Janis and Jaquel Spivey is Damian.
It will be the first feature film from Samantha Jayne, who co-directs alongside Arturo Perez Jr and will hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
