Selena Gomez to perform live for the first time after kidney transplant on American Music Awards
Selena Gomez is returning to the stage tonight to perform her latest single, “Wolves,” at the 45th annual American Music Awards. The singer took a yearlong hiatus after abruptly canceling her Revival World Tour last year, citing depression and anxiety, and effects of her autoimmune disease lupus. Then she revealed in September she had had a kidney transplant.
“Wolves” creative director and Gomez’ friend Petra Collins shared a photo of the singer rehearsing for the show tonight.

The 25-year-old will be performing live for the first time after a kidney transplant operation that occurred during the summer. Her kidney donor was the actress Francia Raísa, one of Gomez’s best friends.
On Friday, Gomez — who is the most followed person on Instagram with a whopping 130 million followers — released the official video for her latest single, “Wolves,” featuring Marshmello.

She will be performing the song live Sunday night as she takes the stage after a year of a much-needed health recuperation.

“My first performance in over a year…the AMAs have been a place where I’ve shared some of my most intimate moments. Heart wants what it wants, after treatment and now Wolves. This Sunday,” she wrote.
Gomez is also documenting her journey to the event for her eager fans, using all the social media tools one might expect.
