The Sennheiser GSP 670 Is One of the Best Gaming Headsets We've Ever Tested
The GSP 670 is a premium gaming headset from Sennheiser that delivers high-quality sound that even the pickiest of audiophiles will appreciate.
Whether you're an audiophile or you just want to take your sonic experience to the next level, the Sennheiser offers some of the best gaming audio hardware we've seen yet.
Comfort
This gaming headset has big oval memory-foam-like earcups that are protected by faux leather, which provide a plush, ultra cozy experience. Since the headset is wireless, you won't have to worry about any annoying cables getting in the way or feeling confined to your desk.
The GSP 670's metal headband features an adjustable caliper pressure system to help ensure the headset won’t grasp your head too tightly. There’s also ample padding at the top underside of the headband to keep you comfortable for those long gaming sessions.
Design
When it comes to design, the Sennheiser looks much more premium than the competition. Weighing in at 14 ounces, the headset is bulkier, too.
This headset connects to your devices a number of ways. We used ours with the included wireless USB dongle (which’ll work with your PS4 or gaming PC). And while it supports a wired connection over USB, it doesn’t have a 3.5-millimeter connection option, making it incompatible with the Xbox. We were happy to see that it even supports Bluetooth and enjoyed using it to listen to music we streamed from our iPhone.
Sennheiser’s software suite was much more pleasant to use than the other headset's. It allows for quick customization of EQ settings, your chat/audio levels, and lets you enable the surround-sound preset. It provides an easy but plenty effective way for audiophiles to fine-tune their settings to their liking.
Sound
This a headset that lets you appreciate the finest of auditory details in games, like when Resident Evil 2’s protagonist Leon’s last shotgun shell fell to the ground just before he met his unfortunate demise by the zombie he was shooting at.
Both music and game scores sound crisp, clear, and balanced, with excellent treble and midrange performance, plus a booming bass.
The microphone provides a full and clear sound that won't be difficult for others to hear. It successfully cancels out background noise and even has a unique feature unlike anything we’ve seen before. When you push the mic arm up, it’ll mute your audio. Push it back down and your friends (or foes) will be able to hear you again.
Wrap-Up
The Sennheiser GSP 670 is pricey, but its superb build quality, luxurious looks, crystal-clear microphone, and wonderfully balanced audio makes it worthy of a splurge.
