Serena Williams Wore Sneakers to Frogmore House
You can take the athlete off the court but you can't take the royal court out of the athlete...? Something like that.
Serena Williams, like all of Harry & Meghan's 200 guests for the Frogmore House dinner reception hosted by Prince Charles, changed out of her Atelier Versace knee-length dress and fascinator that she wore to the couple's ceremony at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle for the evening. The tennis champion arrived to the ceremony with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, in a prim, proper daytime look fit for sitting in the intimate section of the couple's ceremony, the choir room at the Chapel, reserved for only the couple's family and dearest friends.
Williams swapped out her Versace number for a stunning Valentino evening gown with a velvet bodice and a boldly printed floral skirt. Like her day dress, the look was paired with Bulgari jewels...but Williams surprised with her footwear choice. Apparently, whenever Williams is wearing a gown, she's also wearing the shoe choice she feels most comfortable in: sneakers.

Williams height allows her to skip heels, and given that she's gearing up for the French Open after withdrawing from the Italian and Spanish tournaments (allowing her schedule to free up to attend the wedding), comfort is key. While most glamour-obsessed A-listers would keep their comfy shoes under wraps, Williams took to her Instagram to show off just how comfortable she was while most other female guests were spending the day in heels.

Williams detailed all of her looks for the day on her feed with designer tags in tow, much like Priyanka Chopra, whose stylist Mimi Cuttrell detailed her incredible looks for both the ceremony (custom Vivienne Westwood paired with a Phillip Treacy topper and Off White x Jimmy Choo pumps) and the evening's party (a Dior gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewels).
Williams' sneakers were also Valentino, sent to her by Pierpaolo Piccioli at the last minute, when she warned him that for long nights that include dancing, she prioritizes comfort.
