Simon Cowell Says Tyler Butler-Figueroa Could Win 'AGT Champions' After His Last Performance
Since America's Got Talent: The Champions season 2 kicked off on January 6, Got Talent contestants from around the globe have amazed us with their unique, powerful (and sometimes hilarious) performances. While the 2020 season started with 50 contestants, there are now only 10 finalists left who will have a shot at the Champions title during the season 2 finale next Monday night at 8 p.m. ET.
Needless to say, with the competition being so fierce, it's anyone's prize to take home at this point. AGT prodigies like Tyler Butler-Figueroa and V. Unbeatable will go up against top-notch contestants like Das Supertalent winner Alexa Lauenburger and Norway's Got Talent champion Angelina Jordan. It'll be a tough call for the superfans, but we're sure they'll pick the best act when all is said and done.
Ahead of the season 2 finale, here's a full list of all the AGT: The Champions finalists and their highlights from being on the show so far:
Last year, the 12-year-old violinist touched the lives of millions as a season 14 finalist on AGT. This year, he has a chance to win the whole thing after coming out strong with his Champions audition performance of "The Git Up" by Blanco Brown. After nailing his number in round one, he brought everyone to tears in the second time when he took on Louis Armstrong's classic "What a Wonderful World." On Monday, he'll have a chance to impress the superfans once more time with his final Champions performance of the season.
Winning Norway's Got Talent at age eight was only the beginning for the now 14-year-old singer. This year, she returned to the Got Talent stage to sing Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." Her stunning rendition earned her Heidi Klum's golden buzzer and an automatic pass into the season 2 finale.
Simon Cowell already was a huge fan of Boogie Storm before the dancing troupe stepped onto the Champions stage this year. The head judge had watched them succeed and become finalists on Britain's Got Talent in 2016 and wanted them badly to have another shot at the top prize. And so, in historic fashion, on the night Howie Mandel was supposed to bestow his golden buzzer on an act, Simon gave the honor to the dancing Storm Troopers instead. But don't worry, Howie still got a chance to give away his golden buzzer ...
Turns out, Howie was saving his golden buzzer for the acrobatic dancing group and AGT 2019 finalists. After the dancers came in second place to Kodi Lee last year, Howie made sure to send the talented crew straight to the finals this time around. "This is a moment, this is the moment you have been waiting for," Howie said before pressing the golden buzzer.
Though the singer/dancer/musician has been a bit of an underdog in the competition, the former AGT quarterfinalist has managed to make his way to the season 2 finale after giving two very lively performances, both of which ended with the judges covered in pink streamers. Despite Simon's doubt in round one, he came around after Hans's semifinal performance: "I shouldn't have loved that, but I did love it."
The Pilipinas Got Talent 2011 winner brought down the house in the audition round of Champions, gorgeously singing both parts of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's "The Prayer." Weeks later, he stunned the audience again performing the two parts of Celine and Peabo Bryson's pop ballad "Beauty and the Beast." In the end, the superfans couldn't deny the talented artist a spot in the finals.
Alexa's dog training act has already been a hit in Germany and the U.K. — she took home the top prize in Das Supertalent in 2017 and was a finalist on Britain's Got Talent: The Champions in 2019. Now, the 11-year-old will have a chance to add another title to her name if she comes out on top. Given the judges' reactions to her two performances in 2020 so far, it looks like she'll have a real shot.
The dangerous husband-wife trapeze act has shocked audiences this season with insane acrobatic moves that they've performed while being blindfolded, roller skating, and much more. In particular, Simon really loved the duo's second-round routine to "The Greatest Show" from The Greatest Showman. But will the superfans feel the same after Duo Transcend's final performance? We'll have to wait and see ...
After becoming a semifinalist on AGT back in 2011, gymnast Cassie Sandou went above and beyond to make her act even more thrilling and exciting. The result? Two incredible Champions performances that featured her doing all kinds of crazy flips and stunts without any net (and, at times, completely blindfolded and with fire beneath her). Basically, Cassie is the walking definition of "Do Not Try This at Home" ... but in the best way.
The shadow dance group first made waves back in 2006 on AGT. Fourteen years later though, the finalists are well on their way to earning the Champions title after illustrating an emotional story of a dog and a veteran during the audition round. Alesha Dixon was so moved by the performance that she gave the dancers the golden buzzer, telling them that their routine was "so moving" and "so beautiful."
