Sinead Gorey Brings Party Girl Prom Beauty to SS25

Sinead Gorey's Spring/Summer 2025 show at London Fashion Week took us back to prom night. And not just any prom night, but the "indie sleaze" era of "house parties, Facebook albums and an altogether more tethered relationship with social media," according to the press release. With that came a slew of retro – dare we say nostalgic? – hair and beauty looks, too.

The British designer tapped hair stylist Carlo Avena and makeup artist Aiofe Cullen to bring to life her anti-prom heroines, an equally chaotic and relatable blend of doll-like beauty and "bad" eyeliner.

Avena's interpretation and hairstyles took on a coquette quality, crimping hair to within an inch of its life here, creating coquette bows out of hair there, with razor-sharp mullets thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, Cullen's beauty looks revolved around electric blue eyeshadow, frosted lips and messy black eyeliner. "Prom is that time in your life when you’re finally finding your style," explained Gorey - a sentiment that no doubt also rang true for the show's beauty.

All in all, the hair and makeup served as the perfect compliment to Gorey's take on the party girl dress sense: a blend of school uniforms and evening wear, fused with rave gear and bejeweled mini dresses.
