'Sister Wives' Janelle Brown Issues a Strong Warning Amid New Health Scare

Janelle Brown of 'Sister Wives' visits SiriusXM Studios on Nov. 21, 2023, in New York City.

Janelle Brown typically shares photos of her family, food and business side hustles on Instagram—however, the Sister Wives star recently used her platform to issue a strong warning following a recent health scare.

On Monday, March 4, the TLC reality star posted an important reminder: "get your skin checked."

"Today I had 2 pre-cancerous spots frozen and a tiny lump removed from my lip," Brown shared via Instagram. "Yes it’s a pain to schedule the appointment when you are busy. And yes there is a small amount of discomfort. But 2 pre-cancerous spots stopped in their tracks. Worth it."

Alongside a photo showing stitches on her lip, Brown noted that she "always" has been careful about sunscreen. "You have to when you are as fair as I am." She also explained that she has undergone an annual head-to-toe skin ever since she had a basal cell carcinoma removed "right after COVID."

In the comments, Brown's followers thanked her for the reminder and shared their own skin cancer scares.

One person wrote, "Yes!!!! I had a mole that changed and was diagnosed with Melanoma at age 34! Please get yearly skin exams. Skin color doesn’t protect you from all skin cancers. Especially if you spend time in the sun ????????."

Another Instagram user commented, "I work in a skin cancer clinic specifically for this. Thank you for using your platform to inform others as I see what people lose everyday because of skin cancer. Thank you."

Yet another Instagram user wrote, "Happy you are on top of your health. Thank you for sharing and reminding all of us to do our due diligence."

Meanwhile, someone else shared, "I have two places I’ve been meaning to get checked out. Thank you for the reminder."

Brown first revealed her basal cell carcinoma on Instagram in 2021, after Sister Wives viewers took note of a blemish above her lip and reached out to her. Hopefully, with regular skin checks, she stays ahead of any potential recurrences.
