Sonic Serves Up a Scare With New Trick or Treat Shakes

Sonic is bringing a fan-favorite shake back from the grave just in time for Halloween, and it's all treats–no tricks!

Fittingly dubbed the Trick or Treat Blast, the new menu item blends three fan-favorite treats with creamy soft-serve ice cream for the ultimate sweet snack set to haunt Sonic locations nationwide beginning Monday, Oct. 2, through Sunday, Dec. 31.

If the name sounds familiar, it's because it is. The fast food chain previously released a similar shake back in 2020 but with all different ingredients.

So what's in this latest concoction? Good question. We're told the new shakes feature mini M&Ms, pieces of toffee from Heath bars and a dash of Oreo cookie crumbles blended into your choice of vanilla or chocolate soft-serve ice cream.

"We know that it can be hard to pick just one item to enjoy from your trick or treating bag, but Halloween is a time to indulge your sweet tooth and you shouldn’t have to choose just one!" Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic, shared in a statement. "It's scary just how good it tastes."

Priced at just $4.59 for a medium, you'll have to pry these tasty little treats out of our cold, dead hands because a portion of the proceeds is donated to the SONIC Foundation, which helps to support public education and has donated more than $27 million in funding to classrooms around the country since its inception in 2009.

Similar to Sonic's shakes, McDonald's, Dunkin' and Taco Bell also spooked fans by unveiling limited-edition menu items only sticking around this fall.
