Spirit Airlines flight from Vegas forced to land due to unusual odor
A Spirit Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Tampa was forced to make an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Sunday morning because of a foul odor on the aircraft. This is the second Spirit Airlines flight in less than a week that was forced to divert from its initial arrival city due to mysterious odors.
Flight 1128 departed Las Vegas Saturday night and landed in Dallas at 3:02 a.m. Sunday local time, according to flightaware.com, where it received a "full mechanical inspection," Spirit Airlines spokesman Stephen Schuler told CBSDFW.
According to passengers onboard, many people were getting sick from the foul odors, and a DFW medical team examined at least one passenger at the gate. However, a spokesperson for Spirit Airlines informed Yahoo Lifestyle that these statements, shared on social media, were "inconsistent" with reports from Spirit's team on the ground and onboard.

Spirit Airlines sent the following statement to Yahoo Lifestyle: "Spirit flight 1128 from Las Vegas to Tampa landed safely in Dallas following reports of an odor onboard. Out of an abundance of caution, the crew decided to divert to DFW for a full mechanical inspection. No injuries were reported and the crew continued on the next flight. We are investigating the source of the smell and we have placed Guests on another plane bound for Tampa. We apologize for any inconvenience to our Guests, and we have issued refunds and future travel credits."
Flight records show that Flight 1128 left DFW for Tampa at 6:06 A.M Sunday.
On Friday, KABC reported that an odor in the cabin of Spirit Airlines Flight 630 from Los Angeles International Airport to Denver, Colorado, caused the flight to turn around and return to Los Angeles.
"I didn't know anything was going on," passenger Dez Vargas told KABC at the time. "I didn't smell anything and didn't see anything and then the captain came on over the intercom and said that we have to make a landing back to LAX because some passengers are feeling nauseous due to a scent, and that they're doing the precautions to get scent out of the cabin."
One person was transported to the hospital during this incident, the outlet reported.
"Once we landed, firefighters and paramedics came on the plane, and they took the people that were feeling ill, about seven people, then they took them off the plane and they let us off the plane," Vargas said.
Spirit Airlines removed the aircraft from service for inspection and it returned to air the same day, flight records show.
