Stanley Tumblers Offers to Replace Woman's Burned Car After Travel Mug Survives With Ice Intact
Reusable water bottles and tumblers have been all the rage in recent years amid efforts to reduce consumption of single use plastics. But devotees of the various drinking vessel brands—of which there are many—can also tell you that they do a bang-up job of keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.
Case in point, a woman posted a video on TikTok this week of the inside of her burned-out car that had caught on fire, yet her Stanley tumbler not only survived the incident unscathed, but even still had ice inside of it. "Thirsty after you catch on fire? Stanley 1913 is like no problem I gotchu," the woman named Danielle captioned the post, in which she tagged the brand.
After her post quickly went viral, many people noted that it actually made for a pretty good advertisement for the brand, which is marketed as being "built for life." And given the glowing publicity the post has generated, Stanley is now offering to replace her car.
In a stitched TikTok video, Terence Reilly, president of Stanley, reached out to Danielle on behalf of the company to let her know that everyone was glad that she's safe.
"Thanks for sharing the video, because it really shows how our Stanleys are built for life," Reilly said in the clip. "Because of what it went through with you, I couldn't think of a better example of our product's quality.
"But anyway, we're glad you're safe, I've seen a lot of comments that we should send you some Stanleys—well we're gonna send you some Stanleys," he continued. "But there's one more thing, we've never done this before, and we'll probably never do it again, but we'd love to replace your vehicle."
Reilly added that Danielle should check her DMs for details.
And if Danielle's original video wasn't enough to vouch for Stanley, it seems safe to say that the brand will more than get their return on investment by replacing the car. As people piled onto the post to comment, many noted that they were planning to purchase their first Stanley due to both the tenacity of the product and generosity of the company.
"Do I need a Stanley, no. Am I going to buy one on principle now, yes," wrote one commenter. Another chimed in with Oprah's "You Get a Car" meme: "Me on Christmas ... YOU get a Stanley …YOU get a Stanley … we ALL get Stanleys!"
And if anyone was wondering, the model in the original TikTok video is believed to be The Quencher, which comes in a variety of sizes and colors.
