How Starbucks Plans to Celebrate the PSL’s 20th Birthday

Starbucks' PSL turns 20 this week, and no, we're not sharing the news to make you feel old.
This Tuesday, Oct. 10, marks the 20th anniversary of the famed fall drink's debut and to celebrate, Starbucks is brewing a few different treats up its coffee sleeve.
For starters, customers who purchase a Pumpkin Spice Latte–in any form, hot, iced or blended–at Starbucks or Starbucks Reserve locations in the U.S. and Canada will receive a sheet of PSL-themed temporary tattoos while supplies last.

That's not all, though. Starbucks teamed up with KidSuper Studios to drop a Team PSL Varsity Jacket featuring trendy yet timeless nods to the fan-favorite seasonal beverage. The limited edition merch will be available for pre-orders beginning at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET, on Tuesday, October 10, via the KidSuper Studios website while supplies last.

Then, to help fans really re-live the year of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, all Starbucks locations will only play the hits from 2003 on Tuesday. The brand also threw together a public Spotify playlist for customers who wish to continue their journey down memory lane at work, home, or on the road.
Also beginning tomorrow, Oct. 10, through Oct. 31, Starbucks Odyssey members who own at least one Stamp are invited to attend the brand's first-ever virtual party: the PSL Celebration, which allows the Odyssey community to explore a 3-D "fallified village," play games and interact with other members, according to an official statement. By attending the virtual event, Starbucks Odyssey members will be one step closer to unlocking this season's special Stamp, the "20 Years of PSL."
The brand also has plans to launch a limited-edition PSL-inspired electronic gift card, only available until Nov. 1.
The celebratory news comes a few weeks after Starbucks teased fans of the PSL with an interview with its creator, who shared the scoop on how the drink came to be and revealed it almost had a different name.
