Humor: Running away from your problems is easy
A guide for those who choose to flee rather than fight
Oh! What’s that there? It appears you have a little problem on your hands.
Are you going to deal with it? Of course not! You’re going to do what we all do best. Flee. Why face your problem when you can just run away? Don’t worry, it’s not a huge problem, only a small one. And everyone knows that little problems have short, stubby legs. If you run away, it will take ages for it to catch up with you.
During this period you can hide from your problem. Just try to change your location every so often. You can’t stay in one place. Problems may be slow, but they are relentless. Some of the best spots to hide are under the covers, in your closet, or at an enabling friend’s house.
Still, even if you are an expert at concealing yourself, you’ll find others are never satisfied until they point out your problems. Some people have no manners.
So should you deal with it now? Nah. I’d buy more time by focusing on smaller, easier-to-handle problems. That way you will feel like you’re accomplishing something.
Do you know what you can do to take running away from your problem to the next level? Fly to another country. Problems are notoriously afraid of airplanes and can only get to you via boat. By the time they reach your new home, you’ll already be living somewhere else.
However, I should warn you this solution is not going to be as freeing as you might think. No matter where you go, you’ll encounter different types of problems. They come in all shapes and sizes.
It might come at you when you have a disagreement with a friend over who paid for the last pizza delivery.
A problem could make itself known the moment you go to the airport and discover that you should have had help filling out that visa form.
Most certainly a problem will appear when your heart goes pitter-patter. Like peanut butter and jelly, problems and romance just go together.
And of course you can’t forget the problem that involves a lot of self reflection and action — oh never mind. We can and will ignore that one.
Eventually, you’ll miss your family and friends. So you’ll decide to return and face your problem.
Oh. Oh no…
While you were gone your problem grew from something small and manageable into a literal beast of a problem. You’ll want to run somewhere far away, so the problem can’t touch you.
But you don’t. You stand your ground. It’s time to be brave and tackle this guy, even if you lose the battle.
Unless you have money. In which case just throw lots of cash at the problem and it will go away.
Or maybe not? You know what they say…
More money, more problems.
