Making music

Singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier is coming to Fusion at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, following a performance at the She Rises festival in Taos. Jaimee Harris will be the special guest. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 day of, plus fees, at ampconcerts.org. Fusion is located at 708 First St. NW.

Up in flames

On Friday, Aug. 30, the 100th Burning of Zozobra comes to Fort Marcy Park. Gates open at 4 p.m. Tickets are $35 advance, $40 day of the event, plus fees, at burnzozobra.com. Kids 10 and under are free. Fort Marcy Park is located at 490 Bishops Lodge Road in Santa Fe.

Still burning

Speaking of Old Man Gloom, starting from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, enjoy the Zozobra Appreciation Community Celebration. The free event will feature live music, a documentary screening and more. The Santa Fe Railyard Plaza is located at 1612 Alcaldesa St.

A fair time

The New Mexico State Fair kicks off 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Expo New Mexico, 300 San Pedro Drive NE. Tickets are $10-$15, plus fees, at statefair.exponm.com.

Comedy roast battles

Take a stroll

Sandia Heights Artists Studio Tour runs this weekend from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Sept. 8. The event is free and features the work of over 40 artists. Tour brochures can be found at sandiaheightsartists.com.

Sensational succulents

The Cactus and Succulent Society of New Mexico is hosting a cactus and succulent show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1, at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden, 2601 Central Ave. NW. View prize-winning plants and enjoy demonstrations and special displays. Admission into the Botanic Garden is $1-$14.50 at artsandculture.cabq.gov, with children 2 and under free.
