Superman: Legacy Adds Powerful New Villain

A new cast member has joined Superman: Legacy, and she’s going up against the Man of Steel himself.

According to Deadline, DC’s eagerly awaited Superman reboot has cast María Gabriela De Faría in the role of Angela Spica aka The Engineer, a villain powered by nanotechnology built into her body.

With her so-called ‘blood nanites’, Angela Spica can shapeshift to change her form, fabricate objects using her mind, and coat herself with liquid metal for extra protection.

The Engineer character dates back to comic book The Authority vol.1 #1 in 1999, introduced by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch.

With Superman: Legacy a complete reinvention of the DC cinematic universe, De Faría's Engineer might have a large role to play. The actress, a relative unknown who’s previously featured in movie The Exorcism of God and TV series Deadly Class, could prove trouble for other DC heroes in subsequent films.
