Make Sure You Download Spider-Man 2’s Day One Patch Before Playing

Spider-Man 2 PS5 Insomniac Games

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is just around the corner, with the game set to be released in just a few days. Ahead of the sequel’s release, developer Insomniac Games says you should make sure you download and install the game’s day one patch, just in case.

Insomniac tweeted out a statement on its official Twitter account yesterday, reminding players that there will be a patch on launch day, and that they should probably install it. While the developer says that the game is fully playable from start to finish without the patch, it’s really a better experience if you update it before playing.

“For the best experience, we highly encourage physical/disc-based players to download update version 1.001.002 on launch day – prior to experiencing the opening mission of the game for the first time,” Insomniac’s statement reads.

It continues: “This update features polish to the gold master version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 available on disc, which improves the opening sections of the game and includes other general refinements to your Spidey experience, including some additional accessibility options.”

Insomniac says that anyone who’s preloaded the game digitally will already have this patch installed, so they don’t need to worry about updating when the Spider-Man 2 launch time comes around.

Spider-Man 2 reviews dropped yesterday, and so far it’s looking good for the latest superhero game. With over 120 professional reviews lodged, the game has a metascore of 91/100 on Metacritic, with the lowest score being 80/100.
