Teacher writes letter Tooth Fairy on behalf of student who misplaced lost tooth: 'Please take this note as proof'

A Pennsylvania teacher jumped in to help out a distraught first-grade student who misplaced her lost tooth during the school day, making sure she’d have an explanation for the Tooth Fairy once she got home.

Laura Roth is a teacher at Burchfield Primary School in Allison Park, Pa. When Roth’s student, Lily, was upset when she came back to class on Tuesday after accidentally throwing away her tooth, the teacher had her back.

Roth wrote a letter to the Tooth Fairy as a form of proof that Lily did, in fact, lose her tooth — showing how much teachers care about their students.

In an interview with KDKA, Roth explained that Lily “was a little concerned that the Tooth Fairy might not know that she lost the tooth,” so she wrote a note to quell her fears.

“I can confirm with full confidence and authority that Lily lost her tooth at school today,” the letter reads in part. “Please take this note as proof of tooth loss.”

Dr. Bryan E. O’Black, assistant superintendent for Shaler Area School District, tweeted a photo of the handwritten note on Tuesday, praising Roth’s work and pointing out how teachers need to know what’s important to their students.

However, Roth believes that her letter was just part of the job.

“It's funny to me that this has gotten so much attention because any primary school teacher knows that things like this happen daily! I write notes to the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and everyone in between,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Any teacher will tell you that if it's important to our students, then it's important to us as well!”

Fortunately, the Tooth Fairy did accept the note as proof, and left a letter for Lily in return to congratulate her on losing her third tooth, signing it in blue sparkles, KDKA reported.
