'There's no turning back now': 3 women share their life-changing stories on International Women's Day
On International Women’s Day, here’s a striking glimpse at how three women lives changed after the 2017 Women’s March. This short documentary, Women Rising, from go90, features three different sets of participants: the “Divided Duo,” a couple who share opposing political views; the “Partners in Love,” a same-sex couple who had a conservative, Christian upbringing; and “The Survivor,” a women whose memories of sexual assault resurfaced during the furor of the 2016 campaign.
All three of the stories pivot on the occasion of the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., last year, and all three culminate in milestones — showing how this event truly did change lives. And as you watch their stories unfold, with this weekend’s events in front of us, it’s easy to see how the country’s political tides were so deeply affected by the results of the 2016 elections — most notably with the birth of a new generation of political activists and advocates.
As Kayla Keegan, the aforementioned assault survivor in the video, so confidently states, last year’s march was “just the beginning … there’s no turning back now.”
