These chic, under-$50 home decor finds look impressively expensive (but aren't)

Our home editor scoured Amazon for pieces that are legitimately stylish, get great reviews and look way more splurgy than they really are.

This stuff looks luxe but won't break the bank. (Amazon)

As a longtime home editor, I'm not one to recommend buying all your decor from the same place. The best way to get a look that's uniquely you is to collect pieces over time and display them in a way that makes you happy. That being said, I am not immune to Amazon's appeal! It's kind of amazing that the same place you order your toilet paper from is chock-full of stylish home decor.

I spent hours scouring the site for top-rated throws, pillows, trays, mirrors, rugs and more, and I'm happy to say I found tons of great stuff. That includes timeless accessories as well as cute, trendy pieces you can easily mix in with what you already own. I also discovered that some of my favorite brands were on Amazon, like Umbra, Jonathan Adler and Rifle Paper Co. That was a happy surprise!

And because everything on this list costs less than $50, you don't have to feel guilty treating yourself to a piece or two (though if you'd rather give than receive, know that all these finds make excellent gifts). Happy shopping!

You can't go wrong with simple striped throw pillows, and these boast an impressive 2,700 five-star ratings, with shoppers loving the linen fabric's thickness and durability. Just keep in mind that these are covers only, so you'll need inserts. My favorite high-quality inserts cost about $24 for an 18-inch square, but you can also try this trick: Fit a pillow you already own that's the same size or slightly larger into the case and voila, what's old is new again!

I can't get over the price of this 9-inch-tall stoneware pitcher. The graceful curved handle makes it look handmade, and the matte finish is so modern (it also comes in black and beige). Plus: It's dishwasher-safe!

I've been looking for some modern landscapes to hang on my walls and these minimalist 8-by-10-inch prints really appeal to me with their soothing colors. You can't beat a set of six for $15! You can buy them framed for about $65, but I would get a different frame for each one to make them look a little more special.

Time for a new timepiece? Let me direct you to this adorable schoolhouse clock. The two-tone arms and olive color give it an appealing, mid-century modern look, and the big numbers are easy to see.

Staffordshire dog figurines have decorated people's houses since the Victorian era. This hand-painted ceramic piece nods to that history but with a modern twist — it comes filled with cocktail picks! Gift it to your favorite home mixologist.

Objects like this sculptural knot are perfect for topping a coffee table or filling a spot in a bookshelf. I really like this one's pale finish that shows off the paulownia wood's natural grain. It looks expensive — and I'm not the only who thinks so: It earned a near-perfect 4.8 star rating from 200 reviewers.

This set of two minimalist ceramic vases would look stunning on a dining table. Just fill them with fresh or dried flowers and you've got an instant centerpiece.

It's easy to have a ball decorating (get it?!) when you invest in fun pieces like this velvet throw pillow. At 10.6 inches, it's a great accent, especially paired with some patterned square pillows. More than 1,000 shoppers gave it a five-star review, commenting on its softness and how fun it is to hold.

Jonathan Adler is a design superstar famous for his whimsical patterns and quirky accessories. Many of his pieces cost hundreds of dollars or more, so I love how this trinket tray lets you sample his style for less.

I have a version of this Umbra rack at home and love how the hooks fold up and out of the way when you're not using them. It's the ultimate space-saving organizer, and this walnut and gold color scheme looks so sophisticated. I'm hooked!

The windowpane plaid pattern on this fringed blanket is simple and lovely. It's generously sized at 60-by-80 inches, and it gets more than 1,900 five-star reviews, including this rave: "I bought this throw in the ivory with the subtle red stripe to decorate my white bedspread and pick up the red material in the room. I also bought two other blankets from Amazon which have yet to arrive. I don't care — I want this one! I can't imagine that either of the other two will be more soft, more luscious, more cuddly. I'm delighted with this."

Sculptural candles have been, ahem, hot for a while now, but I haven't seen many as cool looking as this swirled pick. The natural soy wax has a sea salt-and-orchid fragrance, which earned raves from reviewers

I like travertine as a rustic-looking alternative to marble. Both are natural stones, but travertine usually has a more subtle pattern and comes in warmer colors, which are currently trending. This 12-inch-long tray is big enough to fit a couple of candles or dish soap and a sponge.

These photo frames feature an inlaid design that reminds me of the home accessories you'll see at Anthropologie. And the black-and-white checkerboard pattern is equal parts trendy and timeless.

This collab between the rug company Loloi and the stationery company Rifle Paper Co. may be one of the best I've ever seen. Rifle's sweet, vintage-inspired florals lend themselves perfectly to area rugs — the colors in this pick would make any room feel special. The price here is for a small accent rug, which I'd place on top of a plain sisal rug for a layered look.

Popularized in the 1970s, mushrooms lamps are back in a big way — and they just keep getting more fun(gi)! This sleek metal version would be perfect for a desk or homework station. The double pull chains remind me of the light fixtures at a library, but the minty color makes this one much cooler. It also comes in brass, black, pale pink and navy, and in different sizes.

I ordinarily wouldn't recommend a large leaning mirror that costs less than $50, but the reviews on this one are really good: It has nearly 1,000 five-star ratings, with lots of people saying how sturdy it is for the price. The thin gold frame and arched shape give it trendy West Elm vibes.

How fun are these little metal trays? Their geometric design means they fit perfectly next to one another, or you can keep them nested if you want to corral all your knickknacks in one place. At $50, they're not cheap, but you don't often find organizers this cool. This review sold me: "I bought this very sleek looking product because of the messy clutter my wife and I (mostly me) always had on our tables. It is very well made and helped my wife make our living room much more livable, and for her, way cuter ... I have literally bought more than 1,000 things on Amazon and this is by far one of the best because of its simplicity and elegance. 10/10 would recommend."
