The Thing Nobody Realizes About Magnolia Market
It's hard to stay focused the second you arrive at the Silos, the sprawling complex that serves as the epicenter of all things Chip and Joanna Gaines. Do you head to the lawn, to lounge on stylishly striped bean bags or get in a round of cornhole? Or head straight to the back, for a snack at one of the food trucks? Or beeline it to the bakery for a cupcake or a bacon-studded biscuit? Or are you brave enough to battle the near-constant crowds swarming inside Magnolia Market, the store that sells Chip and Jo's favorite things?
It's a lot to take in. And it's not until you visit that you realize there's one thing no employee wants you to forget. At every checkout, they'll ask one question in particular - and no, it's not whether you're ready to see your fixer upper (snap out of that daze! This is real life, not HGTV!). It's ... Are you a member of the military?
Magnolia Market offers a military discount to anyone who shops in the store, taking 10 percent off your final purchase. It's something the brand has confirmed via Twitter, but that discount doesn't just extend to Magnolia Market. Active military and veterans receive the same discount when eating at the couple's new brunch-based restaurant, Magnolia Table, as well as Joanna's bakery, Silos Baking Co.
The Gaines have featured home renovations for veterans in episodes of Fixer Upper - including one that ended with a proposal - but it's not until you visit the store and see employees ask everyone who passes if they're in the military that you realize their support of the armed forces carries through to all aspects of their business.
