FOX CITIES - Labor Day weekend brings several big events to the area, including the Calumet County Fair, where Neal McCoy will headline a night of grandstand entertainment, and the annual Fox Jazz Festival, which will take over Menasha’s Jefferson Park.

Other events happening in the coming week include Bratoberfest at Timber Rattlers’ home games and Matt Charette will play a Stone Arch Session concert.

Neal McCoy headlines Calumet County Fair on Sept. 1

The Calumet County Fair is set to run Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 at the fairgrounds, 200 W. Chestnut St., Chilton.

In addition to 4-H exhibits and contests, there will be a cornhole tournament, a kiddie tractor pull, wood carving demo as well as several local bands offering entertainment.

Grandstand entertainment features truck and tractor pulls, bulls and barrels competition and Neal McCoy is the headliner on Sept. 1. Purchase tickets for the concert in advance at ticketstaronline.com.

Menasha hosts 29th annual Fox Jazz Fest

The 29th annual Fox Jazz Festival will take over Jefferson Park in Menasha on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

The free, family-friendly music festival celebrates jazz with local, regional and national artists. Local vendors also will provide food and drinks.

Lakecia Benjamin is the headliner for Aug. 31, and Jazzmeia Horn will headlines the Sept. 1 lineup.

Trout Museum offers free admission, art classes

A free admission day is offered the first Thursday of the month for the Trout Museum of Art galleries. The museum’s three floors host 12 to 18 exhibitions each year to highlight the work of local, national and international artists.

The museum also offers a variety of art classes for teens and adults as well as youth art camps and workshops.

Timber Rattlers celebrate Bratoberfest Aug. 29-31

The Wisconsin Brats return for three games in 2024 with their infamous checkered lederhosen green jerseys during Bratoberfest at the Timber Rattler home games.

The Aug. 29 game features a hat giveaway to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. On Aug. 30, the giveaway features a Beer Bat and the Aug. 31 game features a Brice Turang Bobblehead Giveaway.

Kids run the bases after the games on Aug. 30 and 31, followed by fireworks.

Matt Charette is featured artist of Stone Arch Session Sept. 3

The Sept. 3 Stone Arch Sessions will feature Matt Charette. Doors open at 5 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m. at Stone Arch Brewpub, 1004 S. Olde Oneida St., Appleton.

There is a $10 suggested donation at the door.

The online description states: A self-proclaimed “reformed punk,” Charette is one of the most diligent and recognizable members of Boston’s music scene. With his backing band the Truer Sound, he creates hard-hitting rock songs that seamlessly blend alternative, punk, country and Americana.
