KANSAS CITY, Mo. — From festivals and fairs to walks and runs to the beginning of spooky season in the West Bottoms, there’s plenty to do in and around Kansas City this weekend.
GloWild: Legends & Lore
GlowWld lantern festival at the Kansas City Zoo returns this weekend with a brand-new “Legends & Lore” theme. Going from September 6 through October 31st, the fun begins at 6 p.m., wrapping up at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday, 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. From November 1 through the end of the year, it’s 5 – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 5 – 10 p.m. on weekends.
Art Westport
The 44th Annual Art Westport is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, promising a celebration of creativity and talent. This is largest visual art showing that exclusively features Kansas City area artists, with thousands expected to visit Westport this weekend.
Xavier Worthy shines, Chiefs take the NFL season opener at Arrowhead
St. Jude Walk/Run
Join St. Jude as it unites the community in the fight against childhood cancer. The St. Jude Walk/Run will take place this Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at the World War I Museum and Memorial.
Kansas City Greek Festival
The Kansas City Greek Festival returns for its 62nd year. Admission and parking are free, cheers to a weekend full of Greek festivities!
Running Friday through Sunday at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the festival includes food and pastries, music and dancing, plus a marketplace and taverna.
Brews in the Bottom
Halloween is brewing and the West Bottoms are preparing for their First Friday Weekend debut, September 6-8. There’s live music, food and drink, and haunted attractions.

Taking place on Saturday, September 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Lenexa Spinach Festival invites families to visit Sar-Ko-Trails Park for a day of fun that includes, food, music, arts & crafts shopping as the city celebrates its history as the “Spinach Capital of the World.”
Kansas State Fair
