TikTok's Corn Kid Just Made The Cutest Retirement Announcement & You Have To Watch It
It's hard to believe, but it was just a few months ago when the world was introduced to Tariq, the grade schooler known as Corn Kid. Tariq's love of corn blossomed into countless memes, a corn-bassador role, partnerships with brands like Chipotle, and even a song ("It's Corn"). But in a newly released interview with TikToker Nolan Hansen, Corn Kid dropped the bombshell that he has retired.
Tariq revealed that his retirement began when school started. He added that he was initially feeling less like himself following his decision, but thankfully his world travels helped him turn a new leaf.
"Ever since I retired I just—I didn't feel like myself. But like now that I'm traveling around the world I'm starting to get my attitude back. Ever since school was starting I have retired," Tariq shared in the clip that has well over 20 million views.
Despite his newfound retirement, Tariq continued to share his enthusiasm for corn during the brief interview. "Even if I got bored of corn, I will always be the Corn Kid in my heart," he said.
While many were taken aback by the news of his retirement, a number of users on TikTok applauded Tariq and wished him the best of luck with this next chapter in his life.
"He will always be the corn kid in our hearts," wrote one user. Another TikToker commended Tariq on his ability to remain humble, writing, "Bro this kid is so innocent, he’s always so happy and doesn’t let the fame change him."
