Tim McGraw Gushes Over Wife Faith Hill for Supporting His Sobriety Journey
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been one of the longest-lasting couples in the music industry, married for 27 years. Hill has stood by McGraw through thick and thin, acting as a rock for McGraw and helping him stay sober.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, McGraw opened up about his 15-year sobriety journey while discussing his song "Hey Whiskey," written about his previous alcohol abuse. He credited his wife for helping him stay sober all this time.
"She's always been my rock. She's my rock in everything that I do. I don't think I could stand up straight without leaning on her in everything that I do," he admitted.
McGraw, 56, also noted that his journey to sobriety "is not a linear path."
"There's setbacks and there's times you move forward and do great, and there's times you set back," he said.
McGraw added, "And that'll probably be a process throughout the rest of my life and something that I have to be diligent about and really continue to work at. And I think ['Hey Whiskey'] is helpful in that regard. It was very cathartic to me, in a lot of ways."
Elsewhere in the interview, the country crooner spoke about life at home with Hill, 55, as empty nesters now that their daughters Gracie, Maggie and Audrey have moved out.
"It was pretty tough because it was empty and the energy of the house was sort of gone. And then after about six months, we sort of thought, when we got married, we had a kid right away — we had Gracie right away," he said. "And now we kind of like have our time to ourselves and it's kind of honeymoon time again. So, we’ve quite enjoyed it!"
