Tiny 13-Year-Old Dog Surrendered by Family After Baby Stepped on His Tail Is Breaking Hearts
Many dogs get surrendered in their senior years. It's absolutely tragic. These dogs have many more years of love to give. But sadly, so many of them will languish in rescues and shelters. One woman is hoping to save one of these poor babies and is sharing 13-year-old Ammo's story so that someone will save him.
Ammo is a shy little fella who ended up at the Saving Sage Animal Rescue in South Florida because of a series of unfortunate events.
South Florida animal rescuer, Dali, found the pup and shared his story. It was only recently that Dali was surrendered from his home due to unfortunate circumstances. He needs someone who is understanding to step in.

"Ammo lived with his family for 13 years," Dali explained in the text overlay. "Their baby stepped on his tail and he bit the baby. They dumped him at the shelter. He's so confused and scared."
Ammo is a good boy, she added, who needs someone to love him in his golden years.
"So incredibly unfair. He cried and cried at the door when they left," she lamented in the caption.
The comments section felt a whole range of emotions. "No pup should have to live out their senior days at a shelter," one person argued. "Parents really need to do better and actually watch their kids around their pets. So sad," someone else wrote. "The internal rage I am feeling and heartbreak all at the same time," chimed in someone else. "This is so heartbreaking. Thirteen years with the same family? How could they? It wasn’t his fault, poor baby," a heartbroken commenter wrote.
Why Adopt a Senior Dog
When people go to shelters or rescues, they tend to want puppies or young dogs. But they're so wrong! Senior dogs are where it's at.
Senior dogs have lots of perks that people may not know about. Most senior dogs have already been trained, for example. So you won't need to teach them many commands or how to use a leash.
Older dogs understandably tend to be a little on the low-energy side. So if you're looking for a dog that is more of a couch potato or loves to cuddle more than go for a hike, these dogs are for you.
Finally, senior dogs still are incredibly loving animals. Seriously! You'd be surprised by how quickly they can bond with new humans. Their love for you will never end.
