Tom Brady Eating Chocolate Cake Sparked A Debate Online About His Potential Retirement

I don't follow sports all that much but I do follow food, and this photo of Tom Brady enjoying cake with his wife Gisele Bündchen is sparking a lot of speculation over the future of Tom's career. Some say that if he did eat the cake seen in the photo, that means he's definitely not returning to the NFL. Others say his fork is suspiciously clean (aka he's still eating super clean and in training).

Tom and Gisele are known for following a super strict eating plan that consists almost entirely of vegetables and lean meat. Nowhere on their (rather short) list of acceptable foods does it list chocolate cake, which is why people are reading into the photo in question.

Gisele posted the picture of her and Tom with their son Benjamin on her Instagram, with the caption "Breakfast of champions! Seriously Mayassa, we can’t stop eating your cake. Help!!! ????." While Gisele and Benjamin are holding up decadent pieces of chocolate cake, Tom just has a fork in his mouth. That fork looks clean and his mouth is closed so there is no sign that he really put the cake in his mouth!!!

If you're thinking about why this even matters, it's because Tom's contract with the New England Patriots is up, so people aren't sure if the 42-year-old quarterback will re-sign with the Patriots, go to a different team, or retire from the league altogether. People suspect that if Tom is letting his strict diet go to the wayside, that means he's probably retiring, but others are not buying it.

Tom commented a couple cheeky tongue out emojis on the photo, but fans in the comments doubled down on their suspicions. "Is Tom just ACTING like he's eating the cake?" one said. "I see zero proof of cake in your mouth Tom!" said another.

While I'm spiraling, I should tell you that if you look really really close at Tom's lip you can maybe spot a single crumb on his bottom lip. Or maybe that's just something on my screen. Ugh, IDK. Just TELL US, TOM, did you eat the damn cake????? We need answers.
