Tony Danza Apologizes to Reporter After Being Called Out as 'Rude'

Tony Danza has offered up a mea culpa.

After a recent interview—which users online have dubbed "rude," "unkind," and "condescending"—went viral, the Who's the Boss? star has taken accountability for his actions.

According to reporter Rye Myers, who called out Danza's behavior at the Broadway premiere of New York, New York, the 72-year-old star has since apologized to him. "I just wanted to let you know that I did hear from Tony Danza earlier today," Myers updated his TikTok followers. "He called me to apologize and squash the beef, it was great to hear from him and certainly much appreciated."

As he continued, he thanked his followers for "all your support these last 24 hours," adding, "It's been insane."

For those who may've missed it, Myers called Danza the "rudest celebrity" he's ever interviewed after the reporter asked the actor New York-themed questions, which were inspired by the new Broadway musical.

Rather than participate, Danza responded, "You know what you’ve got to do, buddy? You’ve got to come up with better questions."

As a red carpet reporter, I’m here to help bring excitement to your event and promote it! I LOVE chatting with Broadway and Entertainment’s best as “Your Broadway & Entertainment BFF!” I understand not everyone is in the mood to answer questions, and you can always pass. I asked these same questions (and a few others!) to heavy hitters like #JoelGray #linmanuelmiranda and others, and only #TonyDanza replied like this…. To say I was blown away, shocked, and embarrassed is an understatement…But, my professionalism showed through! ?? #tonydanza #wtfmoments #celebrityencounters #rude #nypost #pagesix #tmznews #whostheboss #redcarpet #redcarpetreporter #shockingmoments #rudecelebrities #slapintheface #celebritynews

He also repeatedly told Myers to "relax."

Myers noted in his caption of the upload, "To say I was blown away, shocked, and embarrassed is an understatement…But, my professionalism showed through!"

This prompted TikTok users to come to Myers' defense. Case in point: One follower shared, "That was so unkind it made me uncomfortable. I love your personality! I bet you’re so nice to hang out with!"

In fact, even singer Michael Bublé chimed in, noting, "I think you’re amazing Ry. I’ll have a pizza with ya. Let’s not invite Tony…."
