The Top Spring 2017 Fashion Trends From the Runways
With the buy-now-wear-now buzz dominating fashion month, one might think that spring fashion trends played second fiddle to in-season fare. Not so. Designers in New York, London and Milan brought warm weather looks down the runway with gusto. From neon brights to New Age Victoriana, these are the key spring fashion trends.

NEON COLORS: Designers including Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Milly, LRS and Sies Marjan went with neon palettes, hot-wiring electric colors to brighten up everything from streetwear to slips.
MULTICOLOR STRIPES: Marc Jacobs, Altuzarra, Adam Selman, Lacoste, Opening Ceremony and Rag & Bone were among those utilizing a panoply of colorful stripes to dress up classic styles including floor-skimming dresses, two-piece suits and rugby shirts.
VICTORIANA GETS REMIXED: Designers continued to reference the moody, sexy, pseudo-repression of Victorian-era fashion, this time around remixing the style by adding a more modern hand to their billowy, ruffled Gothic designs, as seen from J.W. Anderson, Erdem, Marques’Almeida, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Simone Rocha and Ashley Williams.
PIECED TOGETHER: Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, Joseph, J.W. Anderson and Phoebe English were among those who experimented with pieced-together construction, adding edginess to otherwise classic looks.
NOVELTY SHIRTS: Monse, Vera Wang, Victoria Beckham and Hood by Air were among those taking the remaking of classic shirting to a whole new, extreme level.
SHEER LAYERS: Designers including Burberry, Christopher Kane, Faustine Steinmetz, Joseph, Molly Goddard and Marques’Almeida paired colorful see-through dresses, tops and skirts with basic silhouettes to round out their looks.
BRA TOPS: Plenty of seasonally appropriate midriffs were on display with the return of undergarments worn as outer garments. Distinct from previous seasons’ abbreviated tops, spring’s bralettes (at Altuzarra, Jeremy Scott, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tory Burch and Victoria Beckham) are a cross between a crop top and a bra, making them a great hybrid for the summer season.
WESTERN: The Wild West rises up again when the weather warms up. Fringed leather, snap shirts, studded accessories and cowboy hats littered catwalks as designers (like Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Coach) channeled edgy cowgirls and country belles alike.
