Tori Kelly Recalls 'Scary' Health Issue That Came 'Out of Nowhere'

Nearly two months after her major health scare, Tori Kelly is opening up about her traumatic experience.

Back in late July, the American Idol alum was hospitalized in the ICU after suffering from several blood clots in her lungs and legs. Thankfully, despite the severity of the situation, Kelly was able to recover and head on her North American tour in support of her new EP, Tori.

Now, in a chat with ET, the singer opened up about the terrifying experience.

"That just made me even more grateful and not want to take a single moment for granted. Looking out in the audience and seeing all my amazing fans again has been keeping my spirits high," she shared.

The 30-year-old recalled the exact moment she realized something was wrong, noting, "It happened out of nowhere. I was feeling just a little tired throughout the day, and my heart rate was kind of high."

She added, "I was at dinner with my husband [André Murillo] and so thankful he was there because I ended up collapsing and was rushed to the hospital and they found blood clots."

Looking back, Kelly has mixed feelings over having gone through such a life-threatening ordeal.

"On one end, it was scary, and then on another end, I did feel this sense of unexplainable peace that it was gonna be OK," she explained. "I just felt like God had me and it was gonna be OK, but yeah, definitely in the midst of that it was just kind of a confusing whirlwind."

She confirmed that she had "no idea" she had such health issue and still has no knowledge on what caused the clots.

This isn't the first time the Grammy-winning artist has spoken about her medical emergency.

During her hospitalization, Kelly shared a photo of a handwritten note with fans on Instagram, in which she gave an update on her health status. At the time, she wrote, "It's been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers & can't stop thinking about you. I'm feeling stronger now & hopeful but unfortunately there are still some things to uncover. I'm so grateful for the amazing doctors & nurses who have been looking after me."
