Tori Spelling Files for Divorce From Husband Dean McDermott After 18 Years of Marriage

Tori Spelling has filed for divorce from Dean McDermott, her husband of nearly 18 years, according to a case listing viewed by Parade.

Spelling filed the divorce petition in Los Angeles County on Friday, March 29, just a few weeks shy of what would have been the couple’s 18th wedding anniversary. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum identified June 17, 2023, as the date of separation due to irreconcilable differences.

Spelling, 50, first met McDermott, 57, in 2005 as she was filming the Lifetime movie Mind Over Murder. The two married on May 7, 2006. They share five children: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.

McDermott was the first to announce their split last June in an Instagram post that he later deleted.

"It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own,” he wrote at the time. He added that he and Spelling would “continue to work together as loving parents” and requested privacy for their family.

The Canadian actor revealed more about his separation from Spelling last fall when he explained he was coping with depression and substance abuse. He attributed the dissolution of their marriage to his ongoing struggles.

Both Spelling and McDermott have spent time with other individuals in the last few months, fueling speculation about an impending divorce as they appeared to date other people. Though they were spotted chatting in a Los Angeles County park in early March, their most recent public sighting earlier this week sparked concern as Spelling teared up after appearing to argue with her estranged husband. She filed her divorce petition a few days later.

Spelling is seeking spousal support and coverage of her legal fees from McDermott as well as sole physical custody of their five children, according to legal documents reviewed by TMZ and People.
