Trader Joe's Just Brought Back One of Its Most Popular Fall Finds, and Shoppers Are Clearing the Shelves

If you're a regular shopper at Trader Joe’s and have not heard of their infamous Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer, then you might not be the TJ’s stan that you thought you were. The fan-favorite alcoholic beverage has been a Trader Joe’s staple for over 10 years, making periodic — yet limited — returns to their shelves and then disappearing before anyone knew any better. And now, as we traverse into autumn, it seems as though the popular adult beverage is making yet another triumphant return, just in time for fall festivities.

Spotted back in TJ’s by Alex at Trader Joe’s New, Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer is an imperial golden ale which features notes of toasted coconut, vanilla beans and other natural flavors. Each 16-ounce can contains a 9.5 percent ABV and can be purchased as a 4-pack for only $14.99. Although it is advertised as being the perfect pair with just about any treat topped with your favorite cookie butter spread, this is one beer that is sure to have mixed reviews due to its sweet nature.

“I’m scared,” commented "America's most beloved late-nite A.M. radio talk show personality," Terry Carnation (aka Rainn Wilson). “Purchased yesterday. I like stouts in moderation so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this one,” another customer chimed in.

On the topic of why the ingredients of the beer do not include cookie butter, one commenter pointed out how “they just made beer with vanilla and coconut and called it a day. Coconut isn't even in cookie butter.” To which someone added that “real craft beers are too expensive to sell in stores.” They went on to detail how they prefer to buy 16-ounce cans of “true craft with actual flavors like cookie butter pastry,” but in those cases, “a stout is $10 for a 16oz can.”

In any case, craft-beer lovers who regularly frequent Trader Joe’s for their weekly groceries have something to look forward to on their next visit. And even though some people are turned off by the flavor, others are raving about the great taste. Luckily, as one trusty customer pointed out, “you can purchase one at TJs', and not the whole pack,” making this plunge a little more lenient on your wallet.
