Twin sisters share valedictorian role after they both earn a 4.425 GPA

Identical twins from Grass Lake High School in Michigan are sharing the title of valedictorian after scoring at the top of their class of 66 students.

Kayla and Maria Bolton are graduating with a fittingly identical GPA of 4.425, according to WNEM.

The secret to the Bolton sisters' success, they say, is their ability to motivate one another.

"We were each other's support teams. Like when I was low and like, 'I don't want to do this anymore, I can't do it.' I was tired of staying up until 5 in the morning working on homework, and she would just motivate me and say, 'No, we're almost at the finish line. You've got this.' And vice versa," Kayla told the outlet.

"Yeah, she was the same for me," Maria agreed.

The sisters both plan to attend the University of Michigan to study business.

But this isn't the first story of twins duking it out for the title of valedictorian this class year.

Another set of twins in Mississippi earned valedictorian and salutatorian, and they say their competitive nature helped them along the way.

Tommy and Jimmy Dilwith, students at Sumrall High School, say that it's fitting they earned the first and second place in their class.

"I'm the older twin and I'm val, he's the younger twin and he sal," Jimmy told WMBF News.
