Tyra Banks on her nose job: 'Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both'
We're not all born "runway ready." In fact, even the world's top supermodels get a little help.
Tyra Banks is opening up about her rhinoplasty, which she decided to get early in her career, and her message is simple: Let people do what they want. Why judge?
“Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both,” Tyra told People. “There is a boundary line, either you’re super natural or you live at the plastic surgeon. It’s okay to hop back and forth over that line. You want a hair weave? Fine. You want permanent eyebrows? Fine. We as women need to stop judging.”
Tyra cops to the procedure in her new book, "Perfect is Boring," saying she has a "responsibility to tell the truth."
"I admit it!" she said, also acknowledging her hair extensions and weaves. "Fake hair, and I did my nose."
Tyra also leverages some criticism at the "no makeup" crusade, noting that people can decide for themselves whether they want to wear it or not.
"We place a lot of emphasis on that," she said. "As a model, I needed makeup. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It leveled my playing field. Gisele, you don’t need it? I do! And we’re both modeling for Victoria’s Secret."
"Perfect is Boring" is available April 3.
