Um, Michelle Obama Just Made a Surprise Appearance at the Grammys and People Are Flipping Out
During her opening monologue at the Grammys, Alicia Keys decided to bring out some of her friends, including the one and only Michelle Obama.
She was on-stage with Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, J. Lo and Alicia Keys, and they all spoke about what music means to them... so like, to say that it was incredible would be an understatement.
"They said I was weird," Lady Gaga started by saying. "That my look, my choices, my sound, it wouldn't work. But music told me not to listen to them. Music took my ears, took my hands, my voice, and my soul and it lead me to all of you and to my little monsters who I love so much."
J. Lo continued by saying, "Back in the Bronx, music gave me a reason to dance... and it kept me moving from the block to the stage to the even bigger screens... Music has always been the one place we can all feel truly free."
"Every voice we hear deserves to be honored and respected," Jada added.
And then Michelle got the mic, and literally the place erupted. "From the Motown records I wore out with on the south side," she started by saying, but the applause was so loud she had to say, "Alright, alright we got a show to do!" before she could continue.
"To the 'Who Run the World songs' that fueled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story... Music helps us share ourselves, our dignity, our sorrows, our hopes and joys, it allows us to hear one another, to invite each other in. Music shows us that all of it matters, every story within every voice, every note within every song. Is that right ladies? "
