‘The Voice’ Reveals New Coaches for Season 25 + Major Change

As previously announced, Reba McEntire will be replacing Blake Shelton as the country coach on The Voice when it returns for season 24—and she will continue that role into season 25, NBC just announced.

But she won’t be the only coach representing the musical genre in the singing competition's 25th season. Country duo Dan + Shay, who previously worked as mentors along with Blake in season 20, will be the first-ever coaching duo to take part on The Voice, and a specially constructed double red chair was constructed to accommodate the duo.  It now reads: “We want you,” instead of “I want you.”

Also returning in season 25 is John Legend, who sat out season 23 but returned in season 24, and Chance the Rapper, who will sit out season 24 following his season 23 debut, and then return for season 25.

Season 24 coaches are the aforementioned Reba McEntire and John Legend, who will be joined by Niall Horan, who returns after winning season 23 with Gina Miles, and Gwen Stefani, who last appeared on season 22.

Dan + Shay, who formed a decade ago, have garnered over 10 billion global career streams to date, 46 total RIAA certifications and achieved nine No. 1 singles on country radio. In 2021, they became the first artists to win the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance three times consecutively since the category’s inception.

The Voice will return to NBC this fall for season 24, but an exact date has yet to be announced.
