Watch: 7-Year-Old Surfer Absurdly Barreled in Wavepool
It’s not just surfing, right?
Kids everywhere, in all sorts of disciplines, from soccer to tennis to playing freaking checkers, must be getting better and better when they’re younger and younger.
Surfing’s not an anomaly. Can’t be.
Anyway, the skill-level-linked-to-age index (or XY chart, or scatter plot, for all you data nerds out there) is getting slimmer and slimmer, with young kids showing signs of surfing dominance before they’re even in the double digits.
Kids like Jo?o Vitor.
In the clip above, the seven-year-old Brazilian surfer gets absolutely drained, presumably at Wavegarden’s Praia Da Grama wavepool outside of S?o Paulo.
Captioning the clip, from the account run by his parents, and translated, it reads:
“It's tube ??!!! It was another very special day, of high waves and logic, Jo?o's tube couldn't be missing!”
And apparently, Jo?o’s already been at it for a few years now. He started riding waves without any assistance, totally on his own, at age four. Now, at seven, tubes.
Per The Daily Mail, his mother, Camilla Chuque Braga, said:
“He started swimming school when he was seven months old.
“His sister Maria Clara and his father surf all day and introduced this sport into his life.
“When he stood up the first time me and my husband, who was helping him, did not believe it because he was just a baby.
“My husband thought he would just stay lying down on the surfboard, but he stood up and surfed the wave straight.
“He loves the sea, both for surfing and swimming. He is always happy.”
What seven-year-old wouldn’t be happy getting tubed like that?
