Watch Ariana Grande Give Her First Tear-Inducing Performance Since Pete Davidson Split
Last night, NBC aired its pre-recorded Wicked special, and Ariana Grande's first post-breakup performance debuted. Let's just say she killed it, unsurprisingly.
She performed the song "The Wizard and I" to honor the 15th anniversary of the musical.
The audience members were some of the musical's biggest fans, and it looks like they were really moved by her performance. Like, some people may or may not have had tears in their eyes. See, for instance:
Can you blame 'em? Her voice is literally that of an angel.
A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway brought together different stars to sing some of the show's biggest numbers, and Ariana was one of them. She almost didn't perform, though, in the wake of her ex Mac Miller's passing and her breakup from Pete Davidson.
The day after the breakup news hit, Ariana posted a picture of her script for the special on both Twitter and Instagram, but she reportedly skipped the final dress rehearsal just hours before the taping, according to People. She also covered up her Pete tattoo with a BandAid during the special, for what it's worth.
She wrote on social media that her anxiety almost ruined the taping for her, but she was able to make sure that didn't happen. "can't believe i almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today !!! not today satan ! not tomorrow or the next day either not no more u can suck my big green dick 💚 finna sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye."
OKAY. That settles that, then! Looks like that "vessel of love" worked like a charm.
