Watch the Creepy First Teasers for ‘Dirty John,’ Based on Your Podcast Obsession
Bravo just released the creepy first teasers for Dirty John, a new drama based on the true-crime podcast and series of Los Angeles Times articles of the same name. And if it’s half as good as the source material, this show is going to be your new fave.
Eric Bana plays John Meehan, a guy who, without spoiling it too much, seems nice at first but turns out to be a total scammer, taking advantage of wealthy interior designer Debra Newell, played by Connie Britton. There’s family drama, relationship drama, an unsavory past, and even violence. Basically, it has everything.
“I feel like I was blind before I saw you,” Bana’s Meehan says in one teaser. “Like I’ve never loved anyone before I knew you.” And as he goes on, you realize it’s all a facade, something he keeps practicing to get just right. It’s spooky-and you know despite his appearance, he’s a guy you want to run away from, fast. “He could happen to you,” the show teases.
In a second teaser, all we see is the beach, with some foreboding text: Love, Lies, Hope, Hate, Family, Fear, True Terror. Oooooh.
Deadline reports Dirty John will hit Bravo in November. But you need more in the meantime, read the Los Angeles Times feature and listen to the podcast. But do it during the day, because this thing is nightmare fuel.
